What the 12th house covers
The 12th house is what goes out: expenses, losses, sleep, and the things you give away. It is also foreign lands, hospitals and places of retreat, and moksha, release from the cycle of birth.
It is a dusthana, but for anyone who settles abroad or follows a spiritual life it is often the most important house in the chart. What it takes away in money it can give back in freedom.
Dusthana. The 6th, 8th, 12th houses are the houses of difficulty. Their lords tend to complicate what they touch, though two dusthana lords together can reverse into gain (Viparita Raja yoga).
