What this means

The average couple scores 20.8 of 36, and 70% reach the traditional minimum of 18. So passing is normal: roughly two couples in three do it by chance alone. About 30% score 25 or more, a good match, and only 1.4% reach 33.

The score is a sum of eight unequal parts, and Nadi (8 points) and Bhakoot (7) make up 15 of the 36. A pair with either dosha loses those points at once. In fact 99.7% of all matches under 18 have Nadi or Bhakoot dosha: a low score almost always means one of the two, which is why astrologers look at whether the dosha is cancelled before reading the total.

These odds assume two Moons placed independently, which is what any two people are. They describe the matching system, not any particular couple. Calculate your own match.
