What is the D10 chart?

The dasamsa divides each sign into ten parts of 3° and maps each part to a sign of its own. It is read for career, profession and public standing: the kind of work you are known for, and how it develops. Its 10th house, the lord of that house, and the planets that are strong in both the birth chart and the D10 matter most. How the D10 is calculated.

Why the D10 needs an accurate time

The D10 ascendant changes about every 12 minutes on average, so a birth time rounded to the nearest half hour can easily give the wrong chart. The planets move far more slowly, so their D10 signs are reliable even when the ascendant is uncertain. The result above lets you switch to any of the other divisional charts.

How this calculator works

Planetary positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris, the reference used by professional astrology software, converted to the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the standard in India and Nepal.

Your birth time is converted using the timezone history of your birthplace, including old offsets such as Nepal's +05:30 before 1986 and wartime clock changes. Getting that wrong shifts every position, and generic calculators often do. The chart is calculated in your browser: your birth date and time are never sent to us, and the place search sends only the town name you type.
