How it forms

Nabhasa yogas read the whole pattern of the seven planets (the Sun to Saturn) rather than any one placement, and the classics say they act throughout life rather than in a particular dasha. The engine checks three of the four groups, and reports the Sankhya yoga only when no more specific Nabhasa yoga applies.

What it gives

Each pattern has its own meaning, listed with its rule below.

How common is it?

We cast 20,000 charts with this site's engine, for random birth times and places between 1940 and 2010, and counted. Nabhasa Yogas appeared in 91.0% of them: about nine charts in ten. It held in full, with none of its weakening conditions, in 91.0%.

A rule that appears in about nine charts in ten cannot mark anyone out on its own. What matters is its strength, and whether anything in the chart cancels it, which is why the engine grades each one rather than simply reporting it.

Where this rule comes from

Of the 32 Nabhasa yogas, the engine checks the Ashraya group (Rajju, Musala, Nala), the Dala group (Mala, Sarpa) and the Sankhya group. The 20 Akriti, or shape, yogas are not defined in the reference it follows, so they are left out rather than guessed.
