How it forms

These three yogas ask what flanks the Moon: which planets sit in the sign after it (the 2nd from the Moon) and the sign before it (the 12th). Only the five true planets count, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. The Sun is excluded by the texts, and the engine leaves out Rahu and Ketu by default.

When neither side holds a planet, the result is the opposite condition, Kemadruma.

How common is it?

We cast 20,000 charts with this site's engine, for random birth times and places between 1940 and 2010, and counted. Sunapha, Anapha & Durdhara Yoga appeared in 55.1% of them: about six charts in ten. It held in full, with none of its weakening conditions, in 55.1%.

A rule that appears in about six charts in ten cannot mark anyone out on its own. What matters is its strength, and whether anything in the chart cancels it, which is why the engine grades each one rather than simply reporting it.
