How it forms
The lord of a kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house) and the lord of a trikona (the 1st, 5th or 9th) are linked. They must be two different planets, and the link is one of three: they share a sign, they aspect each other, or each sits in the other’s sign.
The kendras stand for effort and the trikonas for fortune, so the yoga joins the two. The more pairs a chart has, the stronger the engine grades it.
What it gives
The classical formula for rising status: effort (the kendra) meets grace (the trikona), so your work is rewarded with position and recognition. The dasha of either planet typically brings promotion or a successful venture, and their strength decides the scale.
What weakens it
Each of these makes the yoga weaker without removing it. The tag says how established the rule is.

How common is it?
We cast 20,000 charts with this site's engine, for random birth times and places between 1940 and 2010, and counted. Raja Yoga appeared in 86.1% of them: about nine charts in ten. It held in full, with none of its weakening conditions, in 25.7%; in the rest it was present in a weaker form.
A rule that appears in about nine charts in ten cannot mark anyone out on its own. What matters is its strength, and whether anything in the chart cancels it, which is why the engine grades each one rather than simply reporting it.
