How it forms
Mercury sits in its own sign or its sign of exaltation (Gemini or Virgo), and that sign is a kendra, the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house, counted from the ascendant.
BPHS adds that the planet must be strong. The engine reads that as Mercury’s Shadbala reaching the minimum BPHS sets; below it, the yoga is reported in a weaker form.

From the MoonLater classical

What it gives
A quick, articulate, discriminating mind that learns languages, systems and trades faster than peers. Communication becomes a livelihood: writing, teaching, commerce, accounts, law or technology. Your counsel is sought by people in power. Scattered energy is the risk; discipline turns cleverness into lasting eminence.
What weakens it
Each of these makes the yoga weaker without removing it. The tag says how established the rule is.

- The planet is combust, too close to the SunClassical
- The planet is debilitated in the navamsa (D-9)Classical

- The planet is joined by the Sun or the MoonLater classical
- The planet also rules the 6th, 8th or 12th houseLater classical
